Yesterday, Jaime asked “Hi! Will you please share your recipe for quinoa tacos? Im always looking for new ideas for quinoa – to convince my husband that it can be delicious!” I figured this would be a great recipe to share because it works for me!
Random fact: Quinoa is actually an extremely healthy grain and one of the very few “complete” foods.
This quinoa taco recipe came together as my DH and I experimented with things while we were trying to cut back on meat consumption. I am guessing that you could use beef with it, or just use beans in the place of meat. Tonight we will be trying the basic recipe with black beans added to the crumbles and quionoa mixture. But the basic recipe goes something like this:
- 1 cooked packet of boca crumbles
- 1 cup cooked quiona
- mix together crumbles and quinoa with a little water and taco seasoning to your desired taste
- put in hard or soft taco shells with cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, and salsa or hot sauce

Yum! I’ve wanted to try Quinoa for a long time, but I’ve never been able to find it. Any suggestions?
Bits and Pieces ~ It depends on your grocery store. I find mine in the organic aisle near the couscous, pasta, and rice. I can’t find it at the local places, so I have to get it on my monthly trip to the bigger city.
I really should get some quinoa soon!
It’s a grain that I tend to forget about, but sounds wonderful.
Thanks!
Michele

Thanks Jennifer! I do live in a smaller town, so I’ll check for it the next time I’m in the bigger city.
Thanks for the recipe! Ill try it this week. For those looking for quinoa i have seen it at health food stores in the bulk bins.
