- Movies at home. One thing we really love around here is movies, so we get Netflix. We pay $14/month to get movies delivered to our door. Usually we choose them together, and then when we have a spare night and want to stay in (or are short on cash) – we pop in a movie that we have. We really enjoy always having this option for a cheap and easy date night. If you like popcorn with your movies, you should read these frugal and tasty popcorn recipes.
- Play board games! It’s so nice to put on some quiet music to sit around the table and play. Our favorites are Chrononauts, Poker, and Settlers of Catan.
- Go to a park. We like taking our dogs to the park or by the marina and we just walk around and talk. It’s nice to go for a stroll together and hold hands once in awhile.
- Make dinner together. Turn on some music, pull out your recipes, and help each other cook. While you eat – put out some candles.
- Go stargazing or watch the sunset or the sunrise together. DH picked me up one morning before school (yes – high school) and took me to see the sunrise. It was amazing!
- Go for a day hike and pack a picnic. We’ve even done this in the middle of winter.
- Visit your local museum, visitor center or other local interests. Bring your camera and take pictures along the way.

We love the Settlers game! We used to play it often with friends before we moved (it was their game, not ours, unfortunately, so we don’t play it anymore).
Thanks for the link to my blog!
How are you feeling?
Blessings,

You’re welcome! They were great ideas!
I’m feeling good. I have spurts of energy and tiredness. I’ve been having cravings, but other than that I’m doing okay. Thanks for asking.
I came across your blog following your link at biblicalwomanhood.com, and I read the comment from Michele. My husband and I LOVE settlers too! We play it all the time.
One of our favorite frugal things to do for a date is go to our local icecream parlor and split a Sundae. Its kinda romantic to have two spoons and one dessert.
The frugality gets even better when we have a coupon.
One thing we love doing is watching DVDs of various concerts. Many bands have at least one DVD out, and it’s a lot of fun, late on a weekend night, popping it in, turning down the lights, drinking some wine (though none for you now!), and enjoying.
Bec ~ That’s a good idea. I never thought of concerts. Any good ones you’d recommend?
Rachel ~ Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
That’s a really cute and sweet idea. I will have to put that on my list – especially for this summer.
We’re huge Wilco fans, so we watch two DVDs over and over: I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, and Sunken Treasure (if you do Netflix, I’m sure they’d be available). . . David Gray has a DVD of a show out too that we watch for romantic evenings.
These are all really great ideas! We used to do Netflix too, that’s a great service and it saves so much money!
