I have been preparing for a baby long before I became pregnant, but the preparing that has gone on during the past 30 weeks has been a busy time. I can only imagine what the next 10 weeks will be like in preparation for Sprout’s arrival.
Our baby shower surely helped us a lot to get ready for baby. We were blessed with clothes to 12 months, co-sleeper, pack ‘n play, toy box, jogging stroller, and many things to help with my attachment parenting – slings, cloth diapers, and many things to support breastfeeding.
As the time ticks down, we will start preparing our house for a new little life. Some things that are on my list:
- This week we will be installing new doors in the family room to better insulate. Then we can finally move our office back out there. It’s been SO long.
- Once the office is in the family room, DH’s computer won’t be in the living room. The new rocker/recliner will take it’s place. After a good thorough cleaning/vacuuming in the living room of course.
- Prep all diapers (40 prefolds, a dozen covers, and a dozen BG 3.0′s)
- Set up pack ‘n play and co-sleeper.
- Thoroughly clean the bedroom (remove everything, vacuum/dust, add things back in and rearrange to accommodate 3 of us
) - Pack hospital bag.
- Put carseat into the vehicle.
It doesn’t sound like ALL that much to do in 10 weeks really, but maneuvering around the holiday season with gift buying/giving, decorating, baking, and all those fun things — it really will go by FAST!

Congratulations on the little one on the way! There is always so much to do!
I’ve got a little bit longer than you to get everything done (I’m 24 weeks along!) but my list is much longer. Somehow I’m even less prepared for baby #3! Good luck!
It’s so sweet to look back and remember how special it was getting ready for that first baby. I remember it so well even though almost 19 years ago. I pray that your last 10 weeks are peaceful and healthy. Lisa~
Jennie, thanks for your comment on my Yoga DVD post. I hope you are enjoying your classes at the Y! I am also due in mid February and my to-do list looks very similar to yours, including the prepping of cloth diapers. Best wishes!
I can relate to this ! , I’ve heard some goody things about this blog ! I bookmarked it on my favorites and will visit it again for more interesting posts like this one, Thanks
FYI – fireman/policeman are certified to inspect and install your carseat. We learned great advice from them for our new little one. We are blessed to have a cloth diaper service in our area…..check out your area because they do all the washing!!!! I love the cloth. Also, it sounds like you already know but breastfeeding is mind over matter…..stick it out it’s worth it. I’ll be checking back, it sounds like we think alike.
Land of Loving ~ Thanks for stopping in few a peak at my blog and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.
Lisa ~ Thank you for your kind wishes.
Frances ~ After I read your blog, it looks like we are due about the same time. How exciting! I am going to add you to my blog roll.
Kelli ~ Thanks for the reminder about the carseat check. Your little Samantha is just a doll too. I perused your blog.
