Update!!
Foody update ~ It has been quite awhile since I have done Meal Plan Monday on a regular basis, but to be honest I have not done well planning meals and sticking to the plan lately. At.All. At least I’m honest, right? We find ourselves before dinner throwing things together or making a quick trip to the grocery store to put together something.
We are in the process of eating more raw foods, more fruits and veggies, and more organic. We are trying to start each day with a smoothie that has omega 3 supplement and wheatgrass powder added. It’s quite the process, and difficult to handle when eating out or eating with family and friends that don’t eat the same. But…we’re trying.
Speaking of food, Baby V will start solids tomorrow to celebrate her 6 month birthday. She has been exclusively breastfed until this point, and I wouldn’t start feeding her foods until I read some books on the issue. My favorite so far is Evie’s Kitchen by Shazzie. It talks about how to raise a raw baby eating only vegan so she talks a lot about supplements and it has TONS of recipes. Recipes for us parents too.
V will not be raised completely raw or vegan, but it has too much information on eating healthy that I couldn’t pass it up!!
Chicken update ~ Remember these babies? Now they are red and big, but not big enough to lay yet. They even have a new coop that James built by himself. How cool is that?!
Job update ~ I’m officially a stay at home mom since my coaching resignation will be approved tonight at the school board meeting.
What’s new with all of you?
Some thoughts that I’m too tired to properly type out, so here’s my list:
- I’ve not been cooking or planning our dinners nearly as much lately. I’m having a difficult time finding the time/balance after work to work out, shower, prepare dinner, eat dinner, clean up from dinner, and still have time to relax with Jeff before it’s time for bed. I’m focused on working out, so the home cooked meals have slipped somewhat. Luckily for me, Jeff is quite capable, independent, and supportive, so he hasn’t minded fending for himself most nights.
- I’d love for you to post some of your favorite smoothie recipes sometime!
- I’m not at all surprised, but still want to tell you how great it is that you’re taking Val’s first foods so seriously. I want to be all about the homemade baby foods when my day comes.
- Are the chickens in your yard or your parents’? If yours, I want to know what the dogs think of them!
- Congratulations on officially and fully being a SAHM; am so happy for your and your family, even though I know you’ll miss coaching. You’ll be able to do it again one day when it better fits in with your family’s needs.
and….. i am beginning to think about starting up a new blog, in a new direction…..
1. I understand juggling all those things can make planning so hard. Just don’t forget to eat healthy.
2. I will!!
3. Baby food is going to be made and froze today.
4. My parent’s yard but they are fenced because of their collie. I think the chickens would chase and peck her more than vice versa.
5. Thanks!!
6. BLOG!! I love reading.
wait, your parents have a collie? like a real lassie collie, not a border collie? because that’s one of my favorite dog breeds and actually is what i’m considering for when jeff and i get a dog, hopefully next summer! give me scoop!
They have a border collie now, but their last one was a collie. The collie was the best and coolest dog ever.
My childhood dog (and best friend), Heidi, was mixed German Shepherd/Collie. I just adore them and think it’d be close to the perfect breed for Jeff and me.
