What I’m reading
How and Economy Grows and Why it Crashes was recommended to me by my husband – he really encouraged me to read it. He is very interested in the state of our economy, and wishes that I knew more about it. But it’s a complicated mess to learn about, isn’t it?
This book is the simple way of learning economics – through a story with humor and ILLUSTRATIONS. You heard me right, this adult book as illustrations. How fun is that?
If you’re even a tad bit interested, this book even has a trailer. Check it out!
How do you keep up with our economy? Do you care about it?
Welcome to my Home Wednesday – Preserving food
It’s that time of year when gardeners start preserving food by freezing and canning food. Since I am an amateur gardener now, I am also an amateur preserver too!
Lucky for me, my mom is a little more knowledgeable about the subject than I am. She has talked me through tips for freezing zucchini, [...]
Still Inspired Tuesday – Homesteading
The Organic Sister is hosting Inspiration Mondays, but I am a day late so let’s just call it “Still Inspired Tuesday.”
{On the farm*}
As many of you know, I dream of a home with some land in the quiet of the countryside. A big space for a garden, chickens, a place for the dogs [...]
Meal Plan Monday – August 30-September 5
This week we are doing to do a big clean out of the fridge and pantry and doing our big grocery shopping trip of the month. I think we are going to visit a new store with bulk bins for essentials. I am very excited about this… maybe we’ll save some money on things like [...]
This Moment
Inspired by Soule Mama.
{this moment} – A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you’re inspired to do the same, leave a link to your ‘moment’ in the comments for all [...]
Welcome to my Home Wednesday ~ Wishin’ for country living
Here are a few shots of why I want to down size, find land with a nice cabin, and make a homestead. My girl loves grass, animals, and dirt!
We’ve gathered a few things from our garden – some greens, tomatoes, and feta from a friend’s goat. Yummy lunch! Imagine the set up we had if [...]
Raw almond milk recipe
{Photo Credit}
I have been making my own, raw almond milk because I don’t like that there are sweeteners in the store bought kind. The only thing I had to buy for extra “equipment” was a milk bag (mine is actually a produce bag that has fine enough holes to use as a milk bag). You [...]

Cloth diapers. Buy used, trade, sell, reuse…
I have written a lot about cloth diapers – where to start, how to wash and strip the diapers, how to store them, and how much you can save by using them.
But, I have heard “They are expensive to buy!” It’s true, they are on the expensive side but imagine how many times you will [...]
Welcome to my Home Wednesday ~ Family Outings
This week, I will share a few pictures from our family outing seeing the Tall Ships Festival.
{My loves}
{Full speed ahead}
{Arghh!}
We lucked out and it was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and the humidity had just left the area, so we enjoyed being outside. The lines to get onto the ships were long (we [...]
