WFMW – Planning for Christmas

Did you know there are only 99 days left until Christmas?  Can you even believe it?  I have been very convicted this Christmas season to be wise about how we spend our Christmas budget.  Every month, we put a certain amount into our “vacation” fund which covers birthdays, trips, and Christmas and I’d really like this Christmas to be a good one.  A good one as in I find presents people like and want that are wise choices.  They may be homemade totes for my cousins with lipglosses and decorated notepads or onesies for the my new niece that have stamped, embroidered, or iron on letters on them made by me, or even using my discount through Mary Kay to get very nice and quality gift sets for the adults in my family.

So with all this thinking and planning, I have decided to take part in the 100 Days Until Christmas.

I will be using their calendars, creating my own lists, and putting together a binder of decorating and baking ideas just for Christmas – since I love it oh so much!! :D   Planning for Christmas works for me!

A day in a list

The simple fact is – I love lists!  When I was in college, if I didn’t make a list for the day I really didn’t know if I was coming or going because I had so much to do.  Now my lists are much shorter and usually just consist of a work time in my planner or what bills to send out for the day.  Well, except when I have company coming and I’ve been too tired to clean my house to perfection.

We are having friends over to grill tonight – steaks, corn on the cob, potatoes, and then whatever other sides we can manage to put together.  I believe James is making cinnamon rolls for dessert which I’ll probably serve with milk and tea.  We may also watch a movie from Netflix together – The Other Boleyn Girl.

So my to do list for the day looks like this:

  • Tidy up bathroom and scrub toilet – Check
  • Take out trash and recycling – Check
  • Vacuum – Check
  • Do one load of laundry – Check
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors – Check
  • Take meat out of freezer – Check
  • Work 1:30-3:30 – Check
  • Prepare the food/cook – Check
  • Enjoy the evening! – Check

Smart Habit Saturday (a day late) :)

The last Smart Habit Saturday was a few weeks ago, but I haven’t forgotten about it or given up on any of the goals.  I believe I am accomplishing all of the goals and continue to do so – I’ve been drinking as much water as I can, taking my vitamins at night, making pretty healthy food choices (we all need cheats once in awhile), I’ve been reading about pregnancy and birth everyday, and I have been working out.  I’ve been running, walking, and riding my bike to work and home.  I even ran a 5K yesterday. :)

My goal this week is plain and simple – COOK AT HOME!  With work and feeling generally tired most of the time, I have not given my kitchen and cooking enough attention.  I find it easier just to go out to eat, and although I think I have been making good food choices it certaintly doesn’t make it budget friendly.  This week, I’m going back into the kitchen.  I will be cooking!

Smart Habit Saturday

I did this list two weeks ago for my goals.  I have completed all of them but I didn’t run 2.5 miles.  I have decided to take up walking, rollerblading, and biking in place of running to get past this two week wait.  If I had been running consistently up until this point it would be different, but I’d rather not change up my routine too much.  I have been very busy with our home business and I have also been working on Mary Kay once again.  I have also meditated a few times, done yoga with a friend, and I plan on attending the Tolle group in our area this coming week.

My new goals:

  1. Don’t stress out too much that I’m in the 2 week wait – once again
  2. Do yoga 2 times this week to help relieve my back and neck aches
  3. Use my bike to run errands, carpool, and be wise about the gas consumption
  4. Workout 2 times besides yoga this week
  5. Put together a going away party for DH as he gears up for camp

Smart Habits

I woke up this morning and realized it was Saturday, and that today was the day that I would look back on my goals for the week and evaluate how I did. There were a few things that I finished up this morning, but all in all this has been a good week! It sure is about time! :)

I created a day-to-day cleaning list, and I missed a few of the chores but they were easy to catch up on this morning while my DH was doing spring cleaning and dropping things off with the city. On the chore before computer use thing – it worked great! Once I told myself it could be something small, then I realized I could do the small sink of dishes or pick up clothes off of the floor. Usually though once I got going and did a small chore a bigger one followed behind before I sat down and had breakfast at the computer. I completed my 2 miler with ease, and I’m wondering why the heck I didn’t just do that earlier?! I have a book party for Mary Kay this coming week, so I am putting my best foot (and thoughts) forward that this will be sucessful because if I don’t get a $400 order this month, then I will not be selling MK anymore. The goal that was met the least was “to be patient and of service to my DH.” I sure do perceive him to be quite a challenge! It will definitely be on my list again this week.

This week’s goals:

  1. Be patient with DH and be of service to him
  2. Sit down and brainstorm ideas for our home business
  3. Run 2.5 miles continuously
  4. Exercise 3 or more days this week
  5. Spiritual endeavors such as meditation, reading, finishing Oprah’s webcasts

Smart Habit Saturday and More Weekly Goals

Update on these past weekly goals:

I still have not ran a continuous 2 miles, but I will do it this week. I have been doing well drinking enough water and putting things away after myself, but I have not been doing a chore before getting on the computer in the morning. The last thing I want to do in the morning is get directly out of bed and do work. Haha! I will try this one again though to see if I can get something small conquered before I sit down though.

So my new and continued goals:

1. Run 2 miles

2. Do a chore (even a small one) before using the computer

3. Make a daily chore list and put it into action

4. Promote my Mary Kay business so I can place an order this month

5. Be patient and of service to my DH

Smart Habit Saturday and Weekly Goals

My weekly goals, such as the ones found at this post will now be combined with my Smart Habit Saturdays. :)

Goals for this coming week:

1.  Run 2 miles continuously

2.  Drink more water each day

3.  Do one chore each morning before sitting down at the computer

4.  Focus on and live in the present moment

5.  Put things away when I am finished with them

Last weeks goals were very successful.  Only one night did I forget my prenatal vitamin and didn’t pick up around the house before bed.  I had a good excuse. ;)   A girlfriend of mine was in town, and I hadn’t seen her in a few years.  It was a last minute get together, and we stayed out chatting until 2am!  I will continue to work on those along with the 5 listed above this week.

Weekly Goals

I feel like I have gotten off track on a few things, and I think by creating goals for myself each week it will help me.  They won’t be too over the top, but just challenging enough.  I get discouraged when I don’t reach them, so I want to make them attainable.  Hopefully this will help me, and I’ll keep you all updated. :)

Weekly goals ~

  • Run 3 times
  • Weightlift 3 times
  • Drink more water and less pop and coffee stuff
  • Take prenatal vitamin every day
  • Have “me” time for meditating, light yoga, or reading each day
  • Do a 10-15 minute “pick up” before bed and put things in their place
